Will you stand with displaced Christians today?
Right now, Christians in sub-Saharan Africa are being driven from their homes by escalating violence. Your voice can help to bring accountability, protection and healing for people like Pastor Barnabas and Pastor Soré.
Across the region of West Africa, particularly in Nigeria, millions of Christians are displaced, living in fear and largely forgotten by the world. “No one is talking about it – not the media, not governments, not politicians,” says Pastor Barnabas.
We are calling on MPs to raise this issue directly with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
Last year, the UK Government made three key recommendations as part of Nigeria’s Universal Periodic Review. These focused on:
- Justice for victims of unlawful killings
- Protection for vulnerable civilians from violence and for those accused of blasphemy
- Promotion of gender equality and the rights of women.
We need to find out what progress has been made on these recommendations.
Will you write to your MP today?
Please ask them to urge the FCDO for an update on Nigeria’s response to these recommendations – and invite them to attend our Arise-Africa-themed seminar at the National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday 24 June.
Make sure your MP is there to hear the latest about the Arise Africa campaign and how they can be part of a movement to end to violence with impunity.
Use some time today to send your MP a letter.
