Protect their rights

In countries affected by conflict and instability, like Syria, entire Christian communities face insecurity, displacement and persecution, that threaten their continued presence in society.

And as we saw last month, women who convert to Christianity in countries such as Afghanistan face violence, coercion, displacement and exclusion simply for exercising their fundamental human rights.

The same failure to protect freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) that leaves women converts vulnerable also leaves Christians like Elias and his family (pictured) exposed during conflict and political transition.

The UK government must ensure that FoRB is consistently recognised within its human rights and democracy reporting, so that vulnerable individuals and fragile religious communities are not overlooked in foreign policy, humanitarian assistance and post-conflict reconstruction.

Join us in urging MPs to hold the Government accountable to their FoRB commitments.
